January
2006--Sara Nichols recently completely season 2 of The Gastineau
Girls for E! Entertainment/True Entertainment/Endemol. As executive
producer, she was brought in to re-vamp the series about the glamorous
socialite mother/daughter characters. Nichols took the season in
a more comedic loosely scripted direction.
"The
goal," said Nichols, "was to make the series a hybrid.
All reality is scripted to varying degrees. Nothing happened on
the show that didn't reflect who these women really are, we acknowledged
we're making a show, and we worked to find the comedy and reflect
what the audience was already thinking ."
The
last two episodes of the season revealed another side to the Gastineaus.
A weepy Lisa and Brittny really got down to the core of their relationship,
revealing new info on why they are who they are. Nichols fell in
love with the format and is currently considering several options
for another "sexy" series. "I've been spoiled in
my career. I've always worked with celebrities or music artists,
or simply funny complex characters, and I like big production value.
I doubt you'll see me ever doing a show about antiques. But you
never know. Maybe if it's a sexy antique like Mick Jagger!"
The
Gastineau Girls airs several times a week on E! and Style.
